  • Do your emotions trigger you to eat such as boredom, stress, anxiety?
  • Do you use food as a reward?
  • Do you suffer from food cravings?
  • Do you rush your meals and eat fast?
  • Do you overeat?

Emotional eating is very common and with so much going on in day-to-day life, it’s understandable why humans learn to turn to food for comfort or as a reward.

While emotional eating may offer relief in the short term, in the long-term, health often suffers and weight gain occurs.

  • We will help you:
  • Identify what is triggering you to eat such as specific emotions, a particular activity, time of the day, person or location
  • Develop practical effective strategies to minimise emotional eating and food cravings
  • Get back in touch with recognising early signs of hunger and fullness (these are different in different people) and slow down your eating, so you get more enjoyment from food and feel in control around food.

Our university qualified dietitians are empathetic and non-judgemental and will support you every step of the way.

  • Do you ever hit a wall when exercising and run out of energy?
  • Do you know how to effectively carbohydrate load before a competition? (hint: a few cups of pasta the night before a race is not effective carbohydrate loading.
  • Do you know which macronutrients you require and how much of these you need for each hour of training, recovery and competition? Can you translate this to what food to eat and how much?

You put the effort into your training, and getting your nutrition right is vital to maximising the benefits from your training and maximising your performance.

6-Week Rapid Weight Loss

  • Do you want to lose weight for your health, to help you move easier or to feel better about yourself?
  • Do you want accountability and support?
  • Do you want to see results fast, maximising fat loss while maximising your metabolic rate?

There are many diets that can lead to weight loss. However, not all weight loss is beneficial to you. Weight loss can come from water loss, fat loss, muscle loss and organ loss. As muscle and organ keep your metabolic rate raised, it is important the approach you use leads to fat loss and not loss of muscle and organ as losing these will lower your metabolic rate, making it harder to keep on losing body fat. This is especially important if you are an older adult, do not do much physical movement or have a chronic disease because these already lead to a loss of muscle.

  • Your nutrition expert will work with you to design a personalised nutritionally balanced diet to promote fat loss, which will be developed based on research evidence that promotes fat loss and minimises muscle and organ loss.

Pre-Surgery Rapid Weight loss

  • Have you been recommended by your surgeon or your GP to lose weight prior to surgery?
  • Are you nervous about your upcoming surgery and want to take action now to prepare your body?

Weight-loss prior to surgery is often recommended to reduce the amount of fat around the vital organs, known as visceral fat as this fat is a physical barrier to the surgery, which can make the surgery more difficult and increase the risk of surgical complications such as surgical site infection, as well as slower rates of post-surgery healing.

  • Your nutrition expert will work with you to design a personalised nutritionally balanced diet to promote fat loss, which will be developed based on your timeframe to surgery, amount of weight loss recommended by your surgeon/GP and your personal preferences.
  • Your personalised approach will be developed to ensure you are receiving the nutrition required so your body is prepared for the stress of surgery.

Our university-qualified nutritionists and dietitians work closely with your GP and surgeon during this time.

Pre-Surgery Nutrition

  • Do you have raised blood sugars, blood pressure, cholesterol, inflammation or triglycerides?

Risk factors for surgery include raised blood sugar levels, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol and diet may assist with the management of these.

Your nutrition expert will work with you to design a personalised nutritionally balanced diet to ensure you are receiving the nutrition required so your body is prepared for the stress of surgery and support the management of blood sugar levels, blood pressure and cholesterol levels, which will be developed based on your personal preferences.

  • Our university-qualified nutritionists and dietitians work closely with your GP and surgeon during this time.

6-Week Post Surgery Recovery

  • After surgery your body requires healing. Surgery stimulates a range of inflammatory and metabolic responses within the body and depending upon the degree of surgical invasiveness, these responses can last several weeks.

Loss of muscle mass, strength and function following surgery is common. For example, 6 weeks following total knee replacement, losses of up to 18% in the quadriceps and hamstring muscles of the surgical leg are seen. Most of this loss occurs during the first two weeks post-surgery. Nutrition strategies are useful to minimise the surgical stress response and loss of muscle mass, strength, and function that occurs and to promote wound healing.

  • In this 6-week program, your nutrition expert will provide you with recommendations to assist with your healing post-surgery. They will also work with you post-surgery towards your personal goals and circumstances.

Bariatric Surgery

Are you considering bariatric surgery? Perhaps you have already made this big decision and have a surgery date set? Have been recommended by your surgeon or your GP to lose weight? Reasons for this recommendation are to reduce fatty liver (the liver is a physical barrier to the surgery) and to reduce the amount of fat around the organs, known as visceral fat (another physical barrier to the surgery) which makes the surgery more difficult.

Your bariatric nutritionist will work with you to design a personalised nutritionally balanced diet to promote fat loss, which will be developed based on your timeframe to surgery, amount of weight loss recommended by your surgeon and your personal preference. Your personalised approach will be developed to ensure you are receiving the nutrition required so your body is prepared for the stress of surgery. Our university-qualified nutritionists and dietitians work closely with your GP and surgeon during this time.

Your bariatric nutritionist will also provide you with a safe and appropriate texture modified progression diet to assist with your safe recovery post surgery.

A healthy eating approach that is sustainable for the long-term and personalised to your food likes and dislikes and surgery type will also be developed.

Our bariatric nutritionists are university qualified and accredited health professionals, with the expertise and caring empathetic nature and look forward to supporting you.
